Is there anything more joyous than a group of women getting together to learn a fun new skill, sip sparkling waters and munch on smoked black pepper white cheddar cheese?
Another workshop is in the books and I have to say each one keeps getting better and easier to execute. I can feel that I’m a becoming an improved teacher, and I love seeing all the proud faces on each attendee as they see their finished creations. It’s a joy beyond measure, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to put on these fun little events.
When I was brainstorming this workshop last summer, I knew browned butter had to be the hit of the show. And, as is well documented, Tillamook butter is my favorite butter to brown. Not only is it a butter that many chefs choose to cook with, but it’s also local to the area and is farmer-owned. Read: feel-good story of the year.
Knowing that the drip is almost always why people come to these events, I had to create a perfect caramel drip that wouldn’t continue to run throughout the day and into all hours of the night. So, I tested it out and brought it to the workshop with not a care in the world. I’ve linked to the recipe below, and you are so very welcome.
I used my famous browned butter cake recipe for the cake layers and they just made Tendue smell of warm, caramel toastiness. It’s amazing what browning the milk fats in a high-quality butter will do for the sensory. Again, read: feel-good story of the year.
The playlist was all my fall favorites; Louis Armstrong, Marion Harris, Cole Porter and the film score to Midnight in Paris, Amelie, Ratatouille, and Chocolat. The music selection reflected the feel of the event seamlessly. Romantic, calm, cozy and warm.
All the attendees walked away with a goodie box filled with coupons for free Tillamook butter and cheese, lots of Rodelle vanilla and cocoa powder, some Jacobsen caramels. The whole box was a $100 value. Talk about getting your money’s worth!
Stay tuned for dates for the next cake decorating workshops. I cannot wait to cake with all of you one day.
Love you all more than cake,
Karlee
Thank you, Tillamook for sponsoring this event and producing a quality product the way you do and always have.
PrintCaramel Drip
A simple recipe for the perfect caramel drip!
- Cook Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
1 cup of caramel sauce, a recipe is linked below
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Instructions
Melt the caramel sauce and white chocolates together in a double boiler until the chips have completely melted. Let the sauce cool until it is warm not hot. Should be around 100 – 130 degrees.
Place your frosted cake in the fridge for at least 15 minutes. If you can, place the cake in the freezer for about 5 minutes.
Drizzle the warm caramel on the cake. The caramel should solidify against the cool cake without melting the frosting or running all the way down the cake.
You are so talented! What a fun workshop! I’m definitely keeping my eye out for upcoming events.
