Slowly, but with great force, my nail polishes are pastel, and my lip color rotation has moved on from “stick” to “gloss”. By the end of this week, we will move from spring to summer. But, haven’t we already done so in our heads? I know I have, since I’ve already been marking off items on my summer bucket list.
Somewhere a few years back, I started writing down all the things I wanted to do in the summer months. I think it started with Joy the Baker, but I found out about it through my friend, Erica, who is the world’s greatest adventurer. She climbs and hikes and camps with the best of them.
I, however, hate these hottest of months and my summer bucket list is a great reminder to enjoy this time. Enjoy this time, I will. Because this year’s list is focused on the mindset that I will not buy into the “Summer Busy”. I will say “no”. I will not over do it. I will stay in when I need and go out when I should. I will stay a little later to enjoy my friends and crack open a good book.
And you should too. Write down all that you want to get out of this summer, both big and small. For me, this practice has truly turned these hottest of months into a time that I enjoy very much.
1. Develop more chocolate recipes.
2. Buy a cotton sun dress for those days that don’t deserve shorts, but pants can’t be bothered.
3. Read a book that has nothing to do with business/productivity/SEO/etc. A book, but make it fiction.
4. Read said book outside and on a blanket. Pack a peach.
5. Picnic with my girlfriend and her littles.
6. Observe summer hours – use that time to visit water parks, the zoo, a library etc.
7. Go berry picking… a lot… and with friends.
8. A jam making day. Peach & cardamom – Lemon & Blueberry – Strawberry & Basil. (LMK if you want these recipes!)
9. Attend St. Johns’ Jazz Festival.
10. Make/Share your favorite Farmers Market Salads.
11. Take after-dinner walks with Daniel.
12. Breathe-in my hometown. Remember what is good.
13. Swim in my favorite lake.
14. Find a yoga studio that you love (and can afford).
15. Eat strawberry shortcake for dinner.
16. Find a dress that fits you for those family weddings.
17. Make weekend movies and put them on Instagram.
18. Find a grown-up dining table, sit around it with friends.
19. Say “no”.
20. When all else fails, barbeque and bruschetta.
Okay, friends, there ya have it. My Summer 2019 Bucket List. May it be so.
Great list Karlee. I actually knocked #15 off the list this week 🙂
YAAAAS, gurl! nailed it 🙂
Happy Summer Karlee! Yes, to so much on your list . Definitely a cotton dress. And yes please to jam recipes. It’s one on my Bucket List; yoga, family everything, exploring and baking new recipes.
Yay! I’ll have to post the jam recipes! That is my kind of bucket list right there 🙂
