If you try one DIY thing in your life, it should be Homemade Sprinkles. They are WAY easier than we give them credit for, and it gives you the freedom to customize the colors to your hearts desire. Want them long? Cut them long, want them small? Cut them small. Options, friends. Options.
Life has seemed to have smoothed out after a very busy September. October is just as full but it’s more projects, shoots and stuff of my own and less obligatory events and shoots. It’s a rhythm I can get used to. It’s where I thrive.
October always seems to be the calmest month of the fall. It’s slowed down from the summer and it’s before the great expectations known as the Holidays. The leaves are still crispy and not mush, the blue skies are winning against overcast fog, and you can find a Tim Burton movie on in my living room when the sun has finally set.
It’s making me crave browns, caramels, deep ambers and all shades of purple. In fact, I might have to make another batch of sprinkles in those hues to prepare for all the forthcoming holidays. You never know when you might need to make pumpkin cupcakes with a dollop of cream cheese frosting. And when that occasion hits, you’ll want a bowl of homemade sprinkles to finish them off.
I started making homemade sprinkles a year ago, and my life will never be the same (she said so dramatically). They have such a romantic quality to them and it just makes all the difference when you’re trying to make your cake or cupcake stand out. Or, if you’re like me and you love a monochromatic look, you can make a funfetti sprinkle mix with several shades of purple and sleep well at night.
Can you imagine at Christmas making white, mint, forest green, avocado sprinkles!?! Or some pastel-filled sprinkles when you make a batch of soft sugar cookies for Easter? The possibilities are endless.

ah! haha, Nikki! LOL, you definitely should! 🙂
Super cute! I love the customization possibilities 🙂 Question though, have you used these in cakes (like funfetti)? Does the color hold up?
Hey!!! I have used them in funfetti cake and as long as I use a pigmented enough food coloring it works great! Thanks so much, Taylor!
