3 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cups sugar
4 teaspoons earl grey
½ teaspoons baking soda
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup butter, chilled, grated
1 ¼ cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Mix flour, sugar, earl grey, baking soda, baking powder, salt in a medium bowl. Whisk vigorously.
Take butter out of the fridge and grate on a cheese grater and incorporate into the dry mixture. Form a crater in the dry ingredients and add the butter milk into it along with the vanilla. Mix with a wooden spoon until it becomes too tough and dump onto a floured surface.
Knead until it forms together. Roll out and fold the dough in half and roll again. Repeat this about four times. Finally roll out to a ½ inch thickness. Cut with a biscuit cutter and place on a baking sheet. Pat with butter milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 – 12 minutes.
