Almond Crusted French Toast

A perfect almond crunch to a soft, eggy french toast.

8 pieces of bread, Texas toast preferred

5 eggs

1/2 cup half and half

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

2 cups sliced almonds

Instructions

Heat a skillet or a non-stick pan over medium heat.

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the eggs, half and half, vanilla, almond extract, and nutmeg together. Place the almonds in another medium-sized bowl.

Dip one piece of the bread into the egg mixture first, and then into the almonds making sure the almonds stick to the bread by pressing with your hands. Be sure to coat both sides of the bread with both the egg mixture and almonds.

Place the bread on the griddle, and cook until each side starts to turn golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side.

Transfer to a plate and top with your favorite toppings.
